Glencoe, North Carolina

Glencoe is a small community built around the Glencoe Textile Mill in Alamance County, North Carolina. The Haw River runs by the mill and provided a dumping ground for dyes, and waste products in the early part of the 20th century, before environmental laws were voted into the constitution. This is a blog celebrating the two families who grew up there then moved into the big city beside it, Burlington to live out the rest of their lives. Floyd Douglas Hall (Mike) and Fern Dickens grew up, dated and eventually married in Glencoe. This is the history in stories and pictures of these two families. You can see the family tree for these families on Ancestry.com at the Diffee Hall site. It is a public tree and you are welcome to view it. The owner of the tree is me, Denise Hall and I am the wife of Mike Hall, son of Floyd D and Fern Dickens Hall. Hope you enjoy this. It will take a few weeks to get pictures and stories going - the beginning date is today, March 13, 2013. Enjoy! Denise View the Glencoe Textile Mill's website here: www.glencoemill.com
